I got inspired to do this after listening to a
a discussion on using “obscuring” in order
to move the eye around a painitng.
I purposefully obscured (or minimized) details of all the parts,
except the pillows
in order to make them the focal point.
“Inside Out” 12 x 12 acrylic on canvas
I wanted the initial reaction of the viewer to be about the
interaction of the shapes and values,
then allow the actual subject to reveal itself.
These are ideas I’d never considered before
and I’m pretty excited about exploring them further!
