This time of year, I tend toward interiors.
The winter sunlight can create beautiful patterns
and shapes indoors.
Here’s one I’ve been working on lately.

I learned a long time ago how difficult it is to paint
personal subjects;
old friends, Grandkids, parents.
When I know and love the subject, I try too hard to
”get it right” and it never works.
As soon as I began working on this of our 13 year old lab
I knew I was in trouble.
It ended up losing the initial sense of immediacy,
but I loved spending so much time with my sweet old dog.
