Painting An Emotion

I’m learning that a common approach to abstract painting
is to start with a non-subjective idea;
such as an emotion, a sense, or a memory.

“Empathy”
12 x 12 oil, cold wax, oil sticks

I began this while thinking of all the ways people’s lives
are being impacted in both
positive and negative ways these days.

That led to my being conscious of
balancing the dark / light,
thick / thin, and dull / intense elements.

Somewhat like this wild emotional roller coaster ride
we’re all on these days.
Stay safe!
